Vane is a plugin suite which aims to to make the vanilla game even better. We are mainly concerned about a better quality-of-life experience, and important multiplayer features. For this we have added many small things, all under a no-nonsense motto. So there are some interesting things you should know and which are explained here.
Please stop by the GitHub page of our plugin if you want to suggest a feature, report a bug, or are just interested!
We've made a few tweaks that we hope will make your life easier
Sort chests with the click of a button, open double doors simultaneously, or right-click on your plants to harvest and reseed them.
Among other things, you have access to over 32000 decorative player heads with /heads
There are some new enchantments that make the game even better. Among them are better elytra flight mechanics, the grappling hook or easier tilling, as well as some other exciting enchantments.
They may not be easy to get, but you won't be able to live without them!
Portals will quickly get you to distant places. Build at the nicest places without having to walk 20 minutes to your friends each time.
You can build portals in any shape and orientation, even lying down. Additionally, you can give them a unique style.
Use regions to protect your chests and buildings. You can create a region using the region menu /rg
.
Within regions, you can set conditions such as allowing PVP, monster spawn, and more. You may also manage the permissions of individual players.
All messages and items are translated into English, German, French and Russian. The resource pack ensures that the same language that is selected in Minecraft will also be used for vane.
You'll run faster on grass paths, so it's worth building a few!
Right-click on a mature plant to harvest it and replant it directly.
.Do you have a bigger field? Craft a sickle to easily harvest larger parts of a field. And while the sickle comes in all material variants, the golden sickle is obviously the best. Wood and stone are the worst materials and therefore harvest only in a smaller radius.
Double doors open automatically on both sides!
When a button is pressed, all chests within a 1-block radius of the button are automatically sorted. (A 3x3x3 cube with the button in the middle)
Craft yourself a file to change the individual joints of walls, fences, glass panes, etc., as well as the shape of stairs.
Save your experience in experience bottles. Craft an empty experience bottle and right click. A small part of the experience will be lost when you fill it, but you can use the experience at a later time.
Use this scroll to teleport to your bed. Beware that the scroll only has 25 uses, so it's definitely worth enchanting it on an anvil with Unbreaking (or Unbreakable!)
This scroll works just like the previous scroll, but it teleports you to where you last used a scroll. Perfect for getting home quickly, unloading some stuff, and being right back in the mine.
With the /heads
menu you get access to over 32000 decorative heads. By clicking on the head, you will exchange a bone from your inventory for the selected head. Shift-click for a whole stack, or use the hotbar keys 1-9 to get the respective number of items.
Nobody likes creepers that blow away half your house. That's why we did something about it, but with style.
The Netherite Elytra combines the flight characteristics of the Elytra with the good defense of an armor.
Once at least 50% of all players in a world are asleep, the night is skipped.
You'll find these tomes in all sorts of chests along with normal loot as you explore the world. They form the basis for all of our enchantments.
You can craft this better variant of an Ancient Tome yourself, as shown in the picture, or find it as well. This can then be used to obtain some of the enchantments.
The divine variant of the Ancient Tome. Crafted from the previous level or rarely found. This tome is used for the strongest enchantments, so don't leave them lying around if you find any! When crafting it, you may use any two enchanted books, the exact enchantments don't matter.
Right-click on a seed with the hoe to sow a nearby field with the same plant. Multiple right-clicks on the same field will sow a circle.
Similar to Seeding, but to create tilled fields. Multiple right-clicks on existing fields creates a circle of tilled farmland.
Allows hoes to turn grass into fields on which there is tall grass. Very useful in conjunction with the enchantment Rake.
Allows you to remove leaves very quickly with an axe. This will also drop the same things as if the leaf had decayed.
At last, a good use for the fishing rod!
Soulbound items remain in your inventory upon death. They also cannot be dropped accidentally. The book must be a curse of binding book, which you can obtain from a villager.
The ultimate enchantment.
Your head through the wall, again? No matter! Your thick skull can take it. (Prevents damage when you hit the wall with the Elytra)
Sneak while flying with your elytra to get a small boost!
Get a boost when opening the elytra to take off directly from the ground! If you sneak while opening, you can also launch without the boost.
The ultimate enchantment for the elytra. Sneak to accelerate!
Portals are structures that let you travel to any other (public) portal as many times as you want. You can build them in almost any shape, and externally match your building style. The best way to travel great distances quickly. But beware, portals are expensive!
First, select the target by right-clicking on the console (enchantment table). A menu will open where you can select the target portal. After that, activate the portal switch and walk through.
The portal closes automatically after 10 seconds. A portal cannot be turned on if the destination portal is already connected somewhere else. Public portals can be activated by a redstone repeater. A portal can have multiple consoles. Switches next to the console also count as portal switches. Please do not spam the on/off switch.
To build a portal, you will need the following materials:
1 Enchantment Table, 1 Netherite Block, 1 Lever, as well as depending on shape and size any selection of Obsidian, Weeping Obsidian, Gold Blocks, Gold-Infused Blackstone, and Emerald Blocks for the portal frame.
First you should construct the portal frame. For this, you will use the respective blocks from the material list. The portal can be built either standing or lying, but for portals that are walked through, the standing variant is recommended. For a portal frame to be valid, it must be "watertight". It must therefore completely enclose an air-area in one plane. This air-area becomes the portal area, and all blocks that enclose and touch this area will form the portal frame. Corner blocks, therefore, do not count as part of the portal at all.
Use the netherite block to mark the block on which a player arrives. The shape of the portal can be any shape, as long as there are at least 1x3 blocks free above the netherite block for a player to pass through. With lying portals, the player always comes out in the middle.
Finally, you need the enchantment table as a console to select the target and change settings later. You can put the switch on any frame block, or on a block near the console (3x3x3 cube with console in the middle).
You may use multiple levers. Later (after creating) you can add more consoles if necessary by selecting them with shift-right click and binding them to the portal frame with right click.
Create the portal by first shift-right-clicking to select the console, and then right-clicking to select the frame. If all conditions are met, you will be prompted to enter a name for the portal. Once you have done this, the portal is mostly ready.
Note that the portal is private by default, which means that only you can set the destination, as well as select it as a destination on other portals.
Activate the portal by first selecting a destination, and then activating the lever. If the destination portal is private, the destination selection will be reset afterwards. The portal can also be activated via a redstone repeater directly into a portal block, but only if it is a publicly usable portal!
The owner of the portal will see more entries in the menu to personalize the portal, or to delete it again. In the settings menu you can change the name, icon and style, as well as toggle the visibility. If you want your portal to be public, you should select that now.
Icon: In the icon selector, you can choose a block from your inventory as the portal icon. This will be displayed along with its name above the console of a portal where your portal is set as a target. You can also use one of the many decorative heads.
Style: In the style selector, you can either use one of the predefined styles, or create your own. When building the frame, you used different blocks. Each of these blocks can now be replaced by any other block. By default, everything is made of obsidian. There is a distinction between active and inactive portals, so you can for example display one of the blocks as a glass when inactive, and as a sea lantern when activated. This allows you to create many interesting styles.
You can also change the portal area block when inactive, for example to completely hide your portal when it is turned off. Don't forget to press Apply at the end to make your changes visible.
Regions allow you to buy a piece of land. In your regions you can assign other players rights like building rights or container rights, as well as set conditions within the region (explosions, monster spawn, PVP, ...).
There are regions and region groups. Regions are purchased pieces of land, and are assigned to a region-group. In region-groups, you can assign rights to players by assigning them a role.
The following applies to portals within regions: Admins of a region can change the settings of all portals within it. In addition, the visibility of the portal can be restricted to members of the region group, or only to portals that are also in a region with the same region group.
A region costs diamonds. When you remove the region again, you get your diamonds back. Start a region selection by opening the region menu with /rg
and selecting Create Region on the left.
Next, choose your region by selecting 2 opposite corners by left- and right-clicking with an empty hand. Your region selection will be displayed live in the world. If all requirements are met, you will see green particles together with your selection, otherwise red ones. Open the region menu again to check what is missing or to continue creating the region. If you are satisfied with your selection, create the region by clicking on the left button in the menu.
A new region is assigned to your default group at the beginning. The settings there are preset so that you yourself are allowed to do everything, everyone else on the other hand can only use things (doors, ...), but neither build nor use containers.
If you want to customize these settings, it is recommended to create a new region group. Otherwise, these settings will automatically apply to new regions you create in the future, as they will also be assigned to your default group at the beginning. Create a new region-group on the right side of the regions menu /rg
.
There are a few settings that do not affect players, but the region itself. These include, for example, whether monsters spawn in the region, whether PVP is allowed, or whether fire spreads. You can see and change all settings in the menu of the region group.
A new group contains 3 roles at the beginning: [Admins], [Others] and Friends.
[Admins] are allowed to do everything, including assigning roles to players and adjusting permissions.
Friends are also allowed to do everything, but cannot change settings.
[Others] is a catch-all group for all players who are not assigned to any other role. These may only use things, but may not build or use containers.
In the menu of your region group, assign the appropriate roles to your friends. In the same menu, you can also customize what your friends may do. For example, you can take away their right to use containers, or take away their building rights. If you only want to do this for a few of your friends, just create a new role for them.
Finally, you just need to assign your region to the correct group. This is done via the region menu.
Tip: If you open the region menu /rg
while you are in a region, you will see the corresponding region and the assigned region group directly in the main menu.
